“Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.” (Isaiah 30:21)
Finally the elections are over (Amen!) No more mudslinging. No more scandals & conspiracies to take out the other candidate. No more counting votes, polling places, or jockeying for positions. No more campaigning and speeches and commercials and all night coverage of various opinions. No more rallies over & over & over to sway votes. (I pray all this is true and we can go back to posting on Facebook our cute kids, puppies, and the foods we like!). God has placed & put who He wanted to lead our country. This is the way He sees it. But still there is the daunting task of moving forward now and walking in it. It’s forward as a nation, forward as believers, forward in our witness of Jesus. There is still a lot of questions and fears in people’s minds that hopefully will ease in the coming months. There are people who are mad and looking to cause trouble to make their stance. There are people ready to gloat and snub their noses at the other side. But still we must move on & move forward. For the helpless & hopeless around us: Let’s remind them of Jesus’ coming kingdom which will be perfect. No more tears. No more sorrow & pain. He only is the King of Righteousness. Man has failed us time and time again and always will. Policies and programs have holes. People have character flaws. But not Jesus! Jesus is our King and the Savior for all of us! What a great opportunity to share the gospel we have today! For the believer in Jesus: Let’s let love & grace rule in all we do and say. Biblical truth must be upheld and put in place, but grace must be seen or else it is legalism, and breaking the already broken and fearful people. Let's speak the truth in love. Let’s honor our leaders (both those elected and those leaving office...Not saying we have to agree with leaders, but honor them in that position.) Let’s uphold Biblical values in our lives, our families, our communities. And let’s be a people of prayer. For the Church in America: Let’s keep on praying! It’s always pending trouble that moves us to prayer and priority. We see the possible pain or problems in the future and cry out for God’s mercy. But the real question is “what’s next?” We face a real danger. Do we go back to our ways convincing ourselves that things will now change because a man is in place? Have we just turned back the clock on the coming implosion or destruction of America? The eyes are cracked open as a Church, the stirring from slumber is seen, but the call remains, “WAKE UP! GET UP! GET GOING!" The days are still short, the night is at hand. So let’s keep working for Jesus…keep witnessing of Jesus…keep walking with Jesus…and keep waiting on Jesus. It’s Jesus who changes our lives and those around us. No matter the president or congress, we move forward one step at a time with our eyes on Jesus! God bless, Pastor Jesse
