Every year I take a vacation up to Lake Powell to get some R&R. One of the blessings in that place is having no cell service. I can sit and enjoy God's Creation, pray, and listen in the quietness for God's voice.
Last year God spoke to my heart to build an altar on one of the hills. In 12 years He's never told me that so this was unique. I climbed a hill and did it. It was hard work for sure. Then God said to my heart, "Lay on it." So I did and He brought to mind Romans 12:1 "I beseech you bretheren, by the mercies, of God to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to the Lord." Then God said to my heart, "I'm not done with you." It was a glorious week for sure that I'll never forget. Over the past year I've watched God do some amazing things through my life. Praise the Lord!
This year there was no direction to build anything, just to listen quietly. Over and over each day the word was simply "Listen". In that stillness His presence was known deeply. (What a mighty God we serve). I found my soul being revived and refreshed simply by His voice and through His Word. I found my heart in surrender to my King in a fresh new way. All because He said, "Listen".
Friend, take time to just sit still before the King of Kings. Open your ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to you. It may be a word of comfort, or exhortation, or wisdom on what to do with that issue before you. But if we don't take time to listen, maybe that is why we are so fearful and panic at times? Maybe that is the reason we aren't peaceful and resting and losing sleep?
Be still (cease striving) and know that He is God...
